Perfect Polish Process

Step-By-Step

Stage 1

A coarse grit diamond tool removes 1-5mm of the concrete surface, which flattens the floor and exposes the desired aggregrate finish.

Stage 2

A medium grit diamond tool is used for coarse grit scratch removal.

Exterior Ground Concrete

It is at this stage, if we were doing an exterior concrete surface, the mechanical grinding process would be completed, and the concrete would then be acid washed, water blasted and 2 coats of exterior acrylic concrete sealer applied.

Stage 3

A fine grit diamond tool is used for medium grit scratch removal.  Also, a liquid grout is applied to the floor and ground into the surface to fill air holes created during the concrete placing process.

Stage 4

A fine grit diamond tool is used for removing excess grout.

It is at this is the stage if you were having a Urethane topical coated interior floor, the mechanical grinding process would be completed.

Stage 5

The first polishing grit begins (100 grit resin tool), to remove fine grinding scratches.

Once this stage is complete, a hardening product is applied to densify the concrete surface which will increase the shine and make the concrete more durable.

Stage 6

The second polishing grit begins (200 grit resin tool), to refine the previous polishing grit.

Once this stage is complete, if you required a matte-finish polished floor, the mechanical polishing process would be finished and the floor would be stain protected and buffed.

Stage 7

The third polishing grit begins (400 grit resin tool), to refine the previous polishing grit.

Once this stage is complete, if you required a semi-gloss polished floor, the mechanical polishing process would be finished and the floor would be stain protected and buffed.

Stage 8

The fourth polishing grit begins (800 grit resin tool), to refine the previous polishing grit.

Once this stage is complete, if you required a gloss finish polished floor, the mechanical polishing process would be finished and the floor would be stain protected and buffed.

Stage 9

The fifth polishing grit begins (3000 grit resin tool), to refine the previous polishing grit.

Stage 10

At this stage, once all polishing stages are completed, a penetrating sealer is applied to the polished concrete using a microfibre mop.  Once this has cured, any sealer residue is buffed using a high-speed propane burnisher.
